Blackface ewes fetch record price
United Auctions in Stirling had 312 breeding cattle and a catalogue entry of 6,171 at its annual sale of Blackface draft ewes and gimmers.
A new centre record price for a pen of Blackface draft ewes was set when a pen from Ewen Macmillan, Lurg, sold for £800 to R Munro, Croft One.
Gimmers topped at £1,900 twice, firstly by Messrs Blackwood, Auldhouseburn, for a pen of three, and secondly for a pen of five from Messrs Kay, Gass.
The first pen sold to Messrs Lennox, Northern Ireland, and the second pen to Messrs Weir, Invernahyle.
