Sands seeking third win

RACING: Watson’s charge looks to stay on winning trail

- THE FERRET

DRAMATIC SANDS can notch his third win of the season in the Shard Solutions And Origin Nursery at Lingfield.

The Footstepsinthesand colt has presumably shown trainer Archie Watson plenty of ability at home from an early stage because after filling the runner-up spot on his Yarmouth debut, he was chucked in at the deep end in the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot.

That Listed contest – won by the brilliant Pinatubo – proved too much too soon for Dramatic Sands, but he made the most of having his sights lowered to maiden company with a narrow victory at Chepstow on his next start.

He filled the runner-up spot on his first start in the handicap sphere at Windsor in August, but rediscovered the winning trail with a hard-fought success at Kempton less than a month ago.

SHERIFFMUIR should defy a lengthy absence in the starsports.bet Maiden Stakes.

John Gosden’s inmate was a hot favourite for his racecourse debut at Newbury in July of last year, but ultimately had to make do with third.

Hindsight tells us that was a decent effort, with the winner, Momkin, now rated 109 and the runner-up, Beat Le Bon, since winning four times to earn himself a mark of 110.

Sheriffmuir has presumably had his issues since, and is fitted with cheekpieces on his return. SELECTIONS: LINGFIELD: 1.40 Delicate Kiss, 2.10 DRAMATIC SANDS (NAP), 2.45 Sheriffmuir, 3.15 Amaan, 3.50 Black Medick, 4.20 Devil Or Angel, 4.55 Gavlar. WARWICK: 2.00 Tea Clipper, 2.35 Flinck, 3.05 Ballymoy, 3.40 Stony Stream, 4.10 Molly Childers, 4.45 Sid Hoodie, 5.20 Arcadian Spring.
