Mccunnie’s Fed to host Glasgow side in Scottish

-

Macron Scottish Junior Cup Round 3 Broughty Athletic closed the gap to Carnoustie Panmure to a point in the Super League North last weekend but take a break from the bread and butter to face Glasgow side St Anthony’s in the Scottish Junior Cup at Whitton Park today.

Fed boss Jamie Mccunnie is without defender Greig Mcnaughton after he was sent off last weekend but otherwise should have the same squad available.

The Broughty manager was boosted in midweek by the return to light training of Brad Smith.

There is an all-super League North clash as Downfield host Tayport at Downfield Park.

The two sides were scheduled to meet last weekend in the league but the weather put paid to that and both sides were idle.

While Tayport’ s League form has been poor, they have saved their best performances for the cup games and will be confident of taking a place in the next round.

Port manager Chris Mcpherson will be missing Conor Ireland, while Downfield are without the suspended duo of Ben Sivewright and Jonny Snowden.

Brechin Vics’ reward for beating Lochore Welfare in round two is a home third round tie against West Region Championship side Neilston

The Glasgow side sit in seventh place with five wins from their 10 games

Vics boss Andy Davie has added Liam Scott to his squad this week but is without the suspended Jack Gribben, while Gary Grant and Duncan Martin are also missing.

As away trips go, the 13-time winners and current holders on their own patch doesn’t get much harder, and add in to the equation that your opponents beat SPFL new boys Cove Rangers in the Scottish Cup last week, then you get some idea as to the size of the task that faces Forfar West End as Derek Lawson takes his side to Ayrshire to face Auchinleck Talbot.

Lawson is expected to have a full squad available for the game.

Premier League North leaders East Craigie head to Glasgow to take on West Region Championship side Cambuslang Rangers.

The Dundee side have been flying and will fancy their chances of getting a result, although the Craigie management team know that the hosts will be a step above their normal fair.

North End were disappointed with their 0-0 draw with Kirrie Thistle last weekend and manager Ross Lunan knows it will need an improved performance from his troops as they head to Ayrshire to face Dalry Thistle.

Kirrie’s reward for beating Maud in Aberdeen is a home tie at Westview Park against last season’s runners-up Largs Thistle

The Ayrshire club sit in mid-table of the West Region Premiership and will be tough opponents for Darren Scott’s Kirrie side.

However, the Angus men have found a bit of form, particularly at home, and won’t go into the game with trepidation. Scott has question marks over James Russell, while Stuart Mckenna is out and Cammy Black is suspended.

Leaders Carnoustie Panmure have added to their attacking threat this week with the addition of Kieran Sturrock to the Laing Park squad.

Sturrock has returned following a spell in New Zealand with New Plymouth Rangers and joins Phil Mcguire’s line-up.

However, he will not feature in the clash with Luncarty at Laing Park today as he is awaiting international clearance.

The Gowfers go into the game on the top of the Super League North, although their lead has been cut by Broughty to just a point, albeit Carnoustie have two games in hand over their rivals.

Blairgowrie have the chance to return to the top of the Premier League North as they travel to Dundee to take on Violet at Glenesk Park.

Violet boss Andy Heggie sees the visit of Blair as a chance to see how much progress his young side have made.

The Dundee outfit are expected to have a full squad available.

Harp travel looking for their first away win of the season which would lift Michael Gormley’s men off the bottom of the table.

Gormley welcomes back Darren Brown, Graham Allan and Sean Mcvicar but Sam Mcdonald, Ryan Hunt, Jaden Murphy and Lewis Fyfe are all out.

Forfar Albion host fellow strugglers Lochee Harp at Guthrie Park looking to increase the gap on the visitors.

Manager Steven Stewart welcomes back Scott Black but Duncan Reid, who was on loan, has returned to Kirrie Thistle.

Montrose Roselea make their second longest league road trip when they travel to Banff to face Deveronside.

A tough game is expected on one of only three 3G pitches in the region but Roselea have been buoyed by the last two wins, scoring eight without reply.

Roselea travel without long-term injured Lloyd Hester while Joe Aitken and Tom Dalgarno will miss out following their injuries against Nairn.

Steven Smith is included in the squad for the first time since the end of August.
