Unappy boss Young keen to move on from shock cup exit

-

East Fife manager Darren Young is pleased that his side are back in action against Clyde tonight as it gives them an early chance to move on from their shock Scottish Cup exit to Lowland League side BSC Glasgow at the weekend.

The League 1 outfit crashed out in a seven-goal thriller at New Bayview with BSC’S winner coming in injury-time.

Young said: “It is the second major disappointment I have had in the Scottish Cup with East Fife.

“We lost to Brora a couple of years ago and that was hard to take in a different way. In that game we lost an early goal and then battered them whereas in this one we were in control and let it slip.

“BSC are a big strong side but we respected them fully and had provided the players with plenty of information. However, the manner we lost goals was really disappointing.”

Young added: “They had one shot at goal in the first half and it came from one of our players making a short passback.

“We recovered from that and were 3-1 ahead. I wanted us to be killing the game, however we seemed to want to play the ball in midfield. That was our undoing as they had an extra man in there.

“They were ruthless and good luck to them, but it was a bad, bad day for us.

“It is good to be playing again so quickly afterwards as it gives us a chance to get going again.

“When we lost to Montrose at the start of the month we went to Dumbarton and won 4-2 in our next game. We will look to do something similar in this game although it will not be easy.

“I am not going to tear everything up, but I will make changes.”

Kevin Smith remains out while Ryan Wallace is doubtful.
