Broughty Athletic’s winner at home to Kirriethistle at Whitton Park came deep in stoppage time.

All the goals in the game came late on, Bryan Duell put Broughty in front with 14 minutes to go but Ryan Winter appeared to have earned a point for Kirrie when he equalised in stoppage time.

However, a swift move left Derryn Kesson with the simplest of tasks to tap the ball home to earn a valuable three points.

Carnoustie had beaten Scone Thistle 6-0 on the opening day of the season and their second meeting of the season at Laing Park ended in another comfortable victory for Phil Mcguire’s men.

The Gowfers took the lead when Ryan Dignan pounced on a loose ball in the box to score and Sam Simpson volleyed past Scone keeper Gavin Sorley to make it 2-0.

Brian Clark fired home just before half-time for a third Gowfers goal and Paul Mclellan made it 4-0 for the Angus side in the 85th minute.

Pat Martin’s thunderbolt effort in stoppage time capped a fine afternoon for the Gowfers.

Downfield shocked Lochee United, winning 2-1 at Downfield Park.

Lee Cameron gave the Spiders the lead on 14 minutes and six minutes after half-time Joe Colquhoun made it 2-0 from the penalty spot.

Dougie Cameron pulled a goal back for Lochee with 20 minutes to go but the reigning champions couldn’t find their way to an equaliser as their profligacy in front of goal of late hit home with aplomb.

New Dundee North End boss Tony Mcauley showed no mercy for his former club as the Dokens won 4-2 at Strathmore Park against Forfar West End.

Gary Sutherland put North End in front on 24 minutes only for Rikki Gillespie to equalise for West End a minute later.

The game remained level until the 74th minute when Sutherland scored his second and a minute later Frankie Devine made it 3-1 to the visitors.

Craig Batchelor pulled one back for West End on 80 minutes but Sutherland quelled any chance of a fightback with his third and North End’s fourth with five to go.

Tayport recorded their first Super League win of the season with an emphatic 4-1 victory over Luncarty at the Canniepairt as the visitors ended the game with nine men.

Dayle Robertson got Tayport off to a great start when he scored from a tight angle in the first minute.

The Bleachers equalised from the spot just after the hour mark through Fraser Mills but parity lasted just five minutes until Ryan Suttie calmly slotted the ball home to restore the lead.

In the aftermath of the goal, both Richie Montgomery and Stuart Nicol were sent off for foul and abusive language for Luncarty, and Tayport took full advantage.

Robertson added his second on 87 minutes and Jamie Gill made it 4-1 in added time to complete a deserved and long-awaited victory.
