Young Raith Rovers striker Kieron Bowie has secured a six-figure move to Fulham, Courier Sport can confirm.

But the centre-forward will stay at Stark’s Park for the rest of the season.

It is understood that the transfer fee for the 17-year-old, who has scored 10 goals for Rovers this campaign, is around £150,000.

The deal to keep Bowie at Raith is a delayed transfer, rather than a loan.

He has travelled down to London and Fulham will announce the move today should there be no last-minute hitch.

Bowie will further his football education in Kirkcaldy alongside Steven Maclean before he leaves for Craven Cottage.

Veteran Maclean has been snapped up after falling out of Hearts manager Daniel Stendel’s plans.

Maclean has joined Raith Rovers to help them clinch the League One title and win silverware, according to manager John Mcglynn.

The former St Johnstone, Rangers and Sheffield Wednesday striker will spend the rest of the season on loan at Stark’s Park after being deemed surplus to requirements at Tynecastle.

The 37-year-old started the first three matches under Stendel but has not featured since before Christmas and failed to even make the bench for Sunday’s 2-1 victory over Rangers.

The experienced marksman was wanted by teams in the Championship but will instead join former saint steammate Steven Anderson inKir kcal dy as the Fifers chase promotion back to the Championship.

Mcglynn said: “I think it’s a feather in the cap of the club that we can attract a Premiership football player of the quality of Steven Maclean.

“He had offers from the league above but he’s chosen to come here to help us in our challenge of trying to get to the Championship.

“That’s the big thing, to come here and try to get a winner’s medal and see us over the line in terms of promotion, whether it’s winning the league or going up through the play-offs.

“I think it’s a massive statement that he’s obviously been impressed with Raith Rovers and heard good things about Raith Rovers.

“One of his former team-mates, Steven Anderson, has obviously told him good things about the football club and I’m sure that’s been very much at the forefront of his mind when he was making his decision.

“Hopefully he likes what he sees and hopefully he can come here and add to that.

“From what I’m led to believe, he’s a top professional. He’s coming here with a determination to play and to help us win the league.

“In the conversations I’ve had with him, he’s been very, very enthusiastic about it and he’s very much up for it.”

The signing gives Raith a huge boost ahead of another massive game in their title hunt this weekend.

Mcglynn knows the trip to face Airdrie could prove vital as Rovers seek to create a gap between them and their opponents, and also keep rivals Falkirk at bay.

He added: “It’s first versus third and we have a four-point gap on Airdrie now.

“They won’t want it to get any bigger and we want it to go to seven points and keep ahead of Falkirk, who have sneaked in one point behind.

“We need to be prepared for a difficult game but it’s one that we’re certainly ready for.”
