Malcolm wants repeat of last weekend’s form
Forfar manager Stuart Malcolm is looking for the same appetite and quality that his players showed last weekend when they visit Peterhead today.
The Loons, energised by their new signings, produced a terrific display at Station Park last Saturday to beat Clyde 2-1.
The result reeled the Bully Wee in towards them – only three points now separate the sides – and Forfar can do the same to the Blue Toon with victory at Balmoor this afternoon.
The Angus men will move level on points with Jim Mcinally’s team were they to win this one.
That would make it a fantastic spell for Malcolm’s men but the gaffer knows it won’t be easy when they head up the road.
Malcolm said: “I was very, very happy with the performance against Clyde.
“The boys were all excellent – every one of them – and it was a great result for us. “Our new guys gave us a new dynamic. “Now the task is to make it back-to-back wins when we go to Peterhead.
“I know, however, just how tough it can be to beat Peterhead at their own place. “I quickly found that out as a player. “What we need to do in order to achieve that is to show the same appetite and quality that we displayed against Clyde.”
The match is likely to come too soon for George Stanger, who has only just returned to full training with parent club Hamilton Accies. On a positive note, Connor Coupe is back fit again and available.
Simon Ferry is back from suspension and set to return to Mcinally’s team today.
Seven days ago Peterhead were 2-0 down at Montrose after quarter of an hour and had conceded a third before the 30-minute mark before going on to lose 4-3.
Blue Toon defender Scott Hooper said: “It’s a must-win for us because if we lose we’re level on points and then you find yourselves looking down at Stranraer.
“You don’t want to be getting dragged into those relegation places.”
