Mr Asquith and his wife and daughter were on the warpath yesterday. They motored to several of the works in Paisley to make another effort to capture the goodwill and support of the hands of both sexes. Everybody admits that hitherto the ex-premier has seemed to make little impression on this section of the constituen­cy. Liberal organisers themselves have declared that such calls have been “a farce.” From the standpoint of getting recruits to the Liberal standard yesterday’s tour did not appear to be more fruitful.
