Luxury cars
“Regarding the photograph in Craigie on Saturday showing the Aberlemno Pictish stones,” emails Iain Keay of Blairgowrie, “the car shown can be identified as an Armstrong Siddeley, by the company mascot Sphinx sitting on the radiator cap.
“The registration date of February 3 1930 shows the owner as being Andrew Miller, Laws Farm, Kingennie.
“The company manufactured luxury cars, being eventually bought over by Rolls-royce. They were also involved in aircraft engine production, including the development of the Bristol Siddeley Olympus turbojet which powered the supersonic Concorde aircraft.”
