“Regarding the photograph in Craigie on Saturday showing the Aberlemno Pictish stones,” emails Iain Keay of Blairgowri­e, “the car shown can be identified as an Armstrong Siddeley, by the company mascot Sphinx sitting on the radiator cap.

“The registrati­on date of February 3 1930 shows the owner as being Andrew Miller, Laws Farm, Kingennie.

“The company manufactur­ed luxury cars, being eventually bought over by Rolls-royce. They were also involved in aircraft engine production, including the developmen­t of the Bristol Siddeley Olympus turbojet which powered the supersonic Concorde aircraft.”
