Help for businesses to become part of supply chain to £1.8bn project

RENEWABLES: Wind farm near Fife represents major opportunit­y

The joint owners of the NNG wind farm, EDF Renewables and ESB, have unveiled four events for businesses interested in being part of the supply chain for the £1.8 billion project.

The NNG is located 15.5km off the Fife coast and covers approximat­ely 105sq km.

The project team and Tier 1 contractor­s will outline how more local companies can help support the successful delivery of the wind farm.

project’s constructi­on and highlight potential opportunit­ies available to the local supply chain.

The site owners have already confirmed that all 54 of Nng’s turbines will be assembled at the Port of Dundee while Fife engineerin­g firm Bifab will manufactur­e at least eight of the foundation jackets.

NNG project director Matthias Haag said: “We are confident that the local supply chain can play a huge role in helping to deliver NNG.

“I am encouragin­g as many businesses as possible to come along to these supply chain events in March.”

Businesses can register for the events, which will take place in Dundee on March 4, North Queensferr­y on March 3, Aberdeen on March 5 and Musselburg­h on March 2, on the NNG offshore wind website.

NNG has a capacity of around 450 megawatts of low-carbon energy and will offset more than 400,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year.
