Saints women begin season with defeat
St Johnstone Women started their 2020 season with a 1-0 Premier League Cup group defeat to SWPL 1 side Spartans.
The match was only one of three across the country that survived the weather on Sunday.
Saints goalkeeper Megan Sidey, who had been due to make her competitive debut, dislocated a finger in the warm-up.
It was an even contest, with Becky Galbraith scoring Spartans’ second-half winner.
This Sunday in another Group A match, Saints face Celtic at Mcdiarmid Park with a 4pm kick-off.
In Group D, Forfar Farmington beat Kilmarnock 2-0.
Both goals were scored by Hannah Stewart.
