A record consignmen­t of 156 sellers were fully supported by a crowded but socially distanced ring of buyers who, despite the challenges they face with the current beef price, bid keenly till the end, with the sale comparing well to last year’s trade. Dairy Bullocks (65) ave 172.42p to 201.00ppk for a 413kg MOX from Meikle Camoquhill, and to £960 for a 588kg BFX from Hapland. ABERDEEN and Northern Marts sold 54 prime cattle.

Under 30 months - Prime bullocks (seven) averaged 181p (+1.4p) and sold to 213ppkg for a 590kg Limousin from Whiteside, Tullynessl­e, and £1,276.05 for a 705kg Charolais from Rivefold, Ythanwells, both purchased by Backmuir Livestock, Keith. Prime heifers (29) ave 192.3p (-6.3p) and sold to 229ppkg for a 495kg Limousin and £1,305.40 for a 610kg Limousin from Stoneyhill, Keith and purchased by Backmuir Livestock.

Young bulls (10) ave 140.8p (-12.5p) and sold to 163ppkg for a 845kg Limousin from Crichie, Inverurie, and £1,404.30 for a 930kg Simmental from Brodieshil­l Farm, Alves. 30 to 48 month – Bullocks (six) ave 157.8p (-13.8p) and sold to 173ppkg for a 650kg Limousin and £1,155.98 for a 718kg Salers from Bishopston, Kinellar.
