News in brief
• Montrose’s Covid-19 assessment hub has moved from the car park to inside Links Health Centre’s Minor Injury and Illness Unit. The hub supports clinical assessment of people with ongoing Covid-19 symptoms. Health chiefs have reiterated the message that the set-up is not a testing centre or a drop-in.
• Additional food supply hubs opened in Angus as part of the multi-agency, district-wide response to those hardest hit by the pandemic. The development is the latest stage of the Humanitarian Aid Angus Response Team initiative and has been accompanied by a renewed plea for people to ask for help during the Covid-19 crisis.
• Six firefighters have tested positive for coronavirus at a station in Glasgow. The workers at Springburn Fire Station began self-isolating after contracting Covid-19. An internal report has been carried out by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS), which has now been forwarded to the Health and Safety Executive.
• A number of shows due to be held at Dundee’s Caird Hall this year have been delayed until 2021. Lost in Music, The Elo Experience, Absolute Elvis and Blazin Fiddles are among the shows to have rescheduled dates confirmed. New dates for further shows are in the process of being finalised. Original tickets will be valid for new dates but customers experiencing problems can email dundeebox@ leisureandculturedundee.com
• Rail passengers are warned they may be prevented from boarding intercity trains without a reservation. Avanti West Coast, which operates Anglo-scottish services on the West Coast Main Line, said the capacity of its trains will be limited to around a quarter of normal levels so passengers who have bought a ticket without a reservation may not be allowed to travel on the next train to arrive.
• A team of volunteers has been making face coverings for people in Crail. They have supplied around 400 masks for people to collect free from the pharmacy.
