Drive-in movies coming to Fife

-

Fife is to get one of its first ever drive-in cinemas at the end of this month.

With most mainstream cinemas still closed due to coronavirus restrictions, Pratis Barns, near Leven, is to play host to a line-up of classic family and blockbuster films on the weekend of Friday August 28.

The Pictures@pratis event will also have an in-car dining menu including woodfired pizzas from Fallones and a selection of favourites prepared by event host and professional chef, Patrick Gilmour.

Owners of Pratis Barns, Patrick and Nicola Gilmour, are no strangers to hosting busy, lively events as they normally run a highly successful weddings business.

However, Covid has meant that wedding bookings have been postponed or rescheduled until next year.

“We have a large, beautiful space here at Pratis Barns and were looking for a fun and sociable idea to bring people together in a safe way,” Patrick said,

Starting at 5pm on the Friday, the drive-in cinema opens with the Pixar classic Up, followed by Dirty Dancing at 9pm.

Saturday’s bill will feature Despicable Me at noon, The Greatest Showman at 4pm and Rocketman at 9pm, while Sunday will round off the weekend’s event with Toy Story at noon, Grease at 4pm and the Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga version of the hit A Star is Born at 9pm.
