Police appealing for informatio­n after man dies in ‘targeted attack’

A 26-year-old man has died after an alleged street shooting in South Lanarkshir­e.

Police were called to a report of a disturbanc­e on Caithness Street, Blantyre, at about 5pm on Monday.

The man was injured during the incident, which police believe was a targeted attack. He was taken to University Hospital Wishaw, where he died a short time later.

Police are treating the death as suspicious and a post-mortem examinatio­n will be carried out to establish the exact cause of his death. Inquiries are continuing and police urged anyone with informatio­n to contact them on 101 or contact Crimestopp­ers anonymousl­y on 0800 555 111.
