Warriors boosted as Scotland pair return for clash with Zebre

-

Oli Kebble and Grant Stewart have both been released from Scotland rugby duty in order to line up in Glasgow’s front row for today’s clash with Zebre.

There is a first Warriors start for 19-year-old backrow forward Gregor Brown in Italy.

The Scotland U20 international impressed off the bench against Leinster last weekend.

Ross Thompson comes in at fly-half to join Jamie Dobie in a half-back pairing with an average age of 20.

Thompson has cover on the bench in the form of Ireland international Ian Keatley, who is looking for his debut following his recent arrival.

Head coach Danny Wilson said ahead of the Guinness PRO14 game: “We were impressed with how our young players stood up against Leinster last weekend and they’ve earned the right to start this weekend against Zebre.”

Meanwhile, former Warriors full-back Peter Murchie has been appointed as an assistant coach on a full-time basis.

Scotland fly-half Jaco Van Der Walt has dropped out of the Edinburgh side through injury.

Scotland players David Cherry and Simon Berghan will turn out for Edinburgh in tomorrow’s encounter with Benetton at BT Murrayfield.

But Grant Gilchrist and Darcy Graham will stay with Gregor Townsend’s Six Nations squad and are replaced in the Edinburgh team by fit-again lock Andrew Davidson and winger Jack Blain.

Richard Cockerill has lost Viliame Mata to injury but centre Mark Bennett returns after a spell on the sidelines.
