Bee-ing kind to nature

-

A reader has been in touch to pass on some advice after discovering bees lying still on her garden lawn.

“A friend of mine tells me it’s very normal to see bees having a rest. Apparently they can do so for around half an hour on a busy day! But she also says if the bee is resting for longer than this, it may need some help. She suggests combining equal portions of sugar with water and placing this mixture near the struggling bee on a spoon or something similar.

“If the bee consumes this, it should help it regain some energy and revive it.

“Finally, she told me never to offer a bee in distress honey from the store cupboard as it can often be unsuitable for our native species.”
