-

The open section of Aberfeldy & District JAC’S sheepdog trials was won by Stuart Davidson with Kyle.

In second place was Laira Hinnekens (Keira) and third was Stuart Davidson (Maid).

Derek Corbitt and his dog Tess won the young farmers trial and he took second place with Floss. Katrina Kennedy was third with Stan.

The local trial was won by Kevin Howlett (Rob), second was Kara Craig (Dot) and Derek Corbitt and Tess were third.

Meanwhile, the longdelayed return of open sheepdog trials in the far north continued with events at Forss and Dunnet, which gave some welcome practice for those planning to take part in next month’s Scottish national trials.

Peter Martin, from Glenlyon in Perthshire, emerged as the top competitor in the open contests, winning two and finishing third in the other.

Ian Wilkie, from Aberdeen, won the opener with his six-yearold bitch Pip.

The events helped raise funds for the national trials on August 18-21 at Lythmore Farm, Westfield, the home of the 2014 Scottish champion Michael Shearer.

Mr Shearer took part, completing a clean sweep of wins in the county sections of the trials.

More than 70 dogs were put through their paces at the socially distanced events.
