Aformer Dundee art student whose portrait of the Queen has been bought by her to hang in her collection at Holyrood, was back in the city to unveil her painting of the Tay Whale at Ninewells Hospital. Lisa Murphy, 22, a Duncan and Jordonstone graduate, had used her research on her ancestors, who lived in the city in 1883, when the whale came up the Tay, as a theme in her final year’s work before graduating BA (Hons) in fine art. The painting is on long-term loan to the hospital and will remain there indefinitely or until it is sold. Lisa said: “I would like it to stay in Dundee, and if possible to stay on display in the city.”
