Dovetail was established in Dundee more than 150 years ago and still manufactures mattresses to this day. All of its high-quality bed bases and mattresses are made onsite by Dovetail’s workforce, many of whom have decades of experience in mattress and bed-base manufacturing.

However, you can be forgiven for thinking that the name Dovetail has not been around that length of time, for this long-established firm was formerly known as Blindcraft and Lord Roberts Workshops.

It became Dovetail when the companies merged in 1993, but the original firm was founded back in 1865, making Dovetail one of the oldest furniture and mattress manufacturers in Scotland today. Its core values have remained relatively the same since the 1800s and they continue to build on quality, ambition, innovation, respect and communication.

There are four main types of specialist mattresses on offer at Dovetail – and they can be made to suit any size of bed. The firm can also make your mattress in a bespoke size, should you wish one outwith the standard single, double, queen and king sizes:

STANDARD

The Standard mattress that Dovetail manufactures uses an open coil spring unit, insulated on both sides with quality fibres to provide comfort at the surface with rod edging providing perimeter rigidity.

DELUXE

The Deluxe mattress from Dovetail is made using an open coil spring unit, insulated with quality foams and fibres on both sides to provide comfort at the surface with rod edging providing perimeter rigidity.

EXECUTIVE

The Executive mattress is manufactured using a pocket spring unit. High quality flexi-bond and fibre panels on both sides provide comfort and stability at the surface with strip edging providing perimeter rigidity.

CLUB

Its top-of-the-range mattress is the Club mattress. It is manufactured using a pocket spring unit topped on one side with 25mm memory foam. High quality flexi-bond and fibre panels throughout provide the ultimate comfort and the flexibility to turn as often as you wish. Strip edging guarantees perimeter rigidity.
