KIRK WARY OF VISITORS

-

Brechin City welcome Rothes today in the first round of the GPH Builders Merchants Highland League Cup.

The Glebe Park side, who have enjoyed a fantastic start to the new season as they aim for a return to the SPFL, will be looking to improve on last season’s second round exit to Brora Rangers.

Boss Andy Kirk told the club website: “Whether it’s the league or the cup it’s another game for us to go out and win.

“Rothes were a strong side last year and they’ve picked up a bit.

“We played them on the opening day of the season this year and despite only winning 1-0 we were dominant and should have scored more that day.

“It’ll be a different Rothes team we come up against as they’ve picked up results of late and there will be a bit more confidence about them.”

Rothes have improved in recent weeks with three wins from their last four league games.

Brechin will again be without the injured Hamish Thomson and Jordan Northcott.
