Sinclair back at Links Park after emergency

-

St Johnstone goalkeeper Ross Sinclair has returned on loan to Montrose after an emergency recall.

The 21-year-old stopper returned to the Perth side on Sunday after an injury to first-choice Remi Matthews.

Sinclair was an unused substitute as the Saints ran out 2-1 winners over Rangers.

But the former Scotland Under-21 international was not in Saints’ matchday squad for the trip to St Mirren in midweek.

Sinclair has been a key addition to Petrie’s team since joining in July, keeping six clean sheets in 11 League One appearances.

Announcing his return to Angus, St Johnstone said in a statement: “St Johnstone can tonight confirm that Ross Sinclair has returned to Montrose on loan.

“We thank Montrose for allowing Ross to return for a short period due to the injury with Remi Matthews.

“We wish Ross and Montrose all the best for the remainder of the season.”

Now, the Links Park side look set to have Sinclair back in between the sticks for today’s clash at Kelty Hearts.

The Angus side will travel to Fife without the experienced duo of Sean Dillon and Paul Watson.

Dillon had to be replaced early in last week’s win over Peterhead and is still suffering the after effects of a dead leg.

Midfielder Watson picked up an injury in training this week.

Petrie’s side returned to winning ways last weekend, seeing off Peterhead at Links Park.

They are looking to make it two in a row against John Potter’s Kelty.

The managers were team-mates at Dunfermline in their playing days, but Petrie says there will be no old pals’ act come 3pm.

“John is a great coach and a good friend,” he said.

“I’m looking forward to catching up with him.

“You can see they are finding their feet in the league and are gaining some super results.

“They have some really good players down there so we know how difficult it is going to be.”
