Athreat posed to the Crawford Arts Centre due to St Andrews University’s decision to pull funding came in for further criticism yesterday.
The St Andrews centre’s director Robert Livingstone has already described the move as a betrayal of public support.
Yesterday, Councillor Derek Barrie added his weight, saying the district council and Scottish Arts Council were now involved in a joint initiative. As a result, the university was to be asked to urgently convene a meeting of all parties involved in the centre’s funding.
He said both authorities believed any proposals should be thoroughly debated.
