Speeding drivers caught in police operation

A driver was allegedly caught doing 57mph in a 30mph zone during a speeding crackdown in Dundee.

Officers launched the early-morning operation on Fountainbleau Drive in Linlathen following complaints by residents.

Police say 19 motorists were caught speeding on Friday between 6am and 7am.

One driver has been reported to prosecutors after allegedly being clocked doing 57mph – nearly double the speed limit.

PC Christopher Stewart of the force’s road policing unit said: “Even though it’s early morning and there isn’t much traffic on the road, there are still a large number of pedestrians and cyclists commuting to and from their work.

“We will continue to carry out early morning operations to keep those using the roads and walking safe.”
