Speeding drivers caught in police operation

A driver was allegedly caught doing 57mph in a 30mph zone during a speeding crackdown in Dundee.

Officers launched the early-morning operation on Fountainbl­eau Drive in Linlathen following complaints by residents.

Police say 19 motorists were caught speeding on Friday between 6am and 7am.

One driver has been reported to prosecutor­s after allegedly being clocked doing 57mph – nearly double the speed limit.

PC Christophe­r Stewart of the force’s road policing unit said: “Even though it’s early morning and there isn’t much traffic on the road, there are still a large number of pedestrian­s and cyclists commuting to and from their work.

“We will continue to carry out early morning operations to keep those using the roads and walking safe.”
