First foundations installed on Tay link
A major milestone has been reached in the Cross Tay Link Road (CTLR) project as the first foundation pile was installed for the new bridge.
The £152.5 million scheme is Perth and Kinross Council’s biggest ever infrastructure project.
The three-span bridge across the Tay is expected to be finished in early summer 2024, with the whole project due to be completed by construction group BAM Nuttall in 2025.
Perth Transport Futures this week shared a picture on social media of the moment building work on the bridge got under way, with the first pile being driven into the riverbank at the east pier.
The project also involves creating four miles of new road linking the A9 and A93 to Blairgowrie and the A94 north of Scone.
Just over a mile of dual carriageway on the A9 north of Inveralmond Roundabout will also be realigned.
A spokesperson for Perth and Kinross Council said the installation of the first of the 85 foundation piles needed for the bridge was a “significant step forward” in the project.
