Care site faces axe to build 50 homes

-

Plans to build 50 new homes at a Broughty Ferry housing development could see the former Linlathen Neurological Care Centre demolished.

Kirkwood Homes has lodged a proposal of application notice with Dundee City Council to expand its 250-home Balgillo Heights estate off the A92.

The move has sparked a 12-week consultation to allow people in the area to have their say.

A full planning application is likely to be lodged in early 2023.

Kirkwood Homes said the medical facility would be demolished to make way for the newbuilds, while the site’s walled garden would be “restored and brought back to life”.

The firm won the right to add 100 homes to Balgillo Heights in 2020 after overturning a decision to block planning permission.

Members of the public will be invited to share their feedback at a drop-in event at the Balgillo Heights sales office on December 6 followed by another on January 17 2023.

A website will be launched at least a week before the first event and remain open until January 27.
