● Strathmore Cricket Club is to host a tea dance this Friday, providing some entertainm­ent for those who are socially isolated or have early onset dementia.

The dance will begin at 2.30pm. Anyone wanting to be involved should contact admin@ strathmore­trust.co.uk.

● Perth music teacher and musician Maureen (Mo) Rutherford received the scroll of honour from the Royal Scottish Dance Society (RSCDS), the highest accolade which can be given.

The honour reflects Mo’s work as musical director for the RSCDS over several years, along with her contributi­on to arranging music for some of the society’s dance books, leading musicians courses both in the UK and on the other side of the world.

● The Light Up Leven switch-on event, organised by Leven Community Council, is still going ahead on Saturday following the Leven High Street fire.

There will be a choir, a Santa’s grotto and a range of stalls and entertainm­ent from 2pm, with the light switch-on at 4.30pm.

● Around 30 students from across eight Dundee and Angus secondary schools swapped classroom seats for gaming chairs as part of Scotland’s most prestigiou­s esports event week.

The three-day event took place on the main stage of Dundee and Angus College’s Gardyne Theatre, with pupils competing for a range of prizes from online games vouchers and cash prizes to an Xbox for the winning school, which was Monifieth High.

● The Proclaimer­s are to perform at the Caird Hall in Dundee on Saturday.

Doors for the event will open at 7pm.
