STEWART’S PACE SLIP-UP
Dundee cyclist Mark Stewart has slipped to second place in the Champions League rankings after struggling for pace at the second event of the season in Berlin.
The 2018 Commonwealth gold medallist topped the endurance standings after finishing first and third at last week’s opening round in Mallorca, but he could not match those results in Germany.
The 27-year-old was eighth in the Elimination Race and ninth in the Scratch Race, adding 15 points to the 35 he gained in Mallorca as Canadian Mathias Guillemette overtook him by five points ahead of round three in Paris next weekend.
Glasgow’s Katie Archibald comfortably leads the women’s endurance rankings after winning both the Scratch and Elimination races in Berlin.
