Garden hits winner as Dokens stay top

-

Dundee North End remain top of the Midlands League after a 2-1 win away from home at Letham on Saturday.

All the goals came in the first half with the league leaders having to come from behind.

Letham took an early lead thanks to Liam Allen but Ross Jamieson equalised for North End before Jordan Garden struck what proved to be the winner just before the break.

Dundee East Craigie are three points clear of Kirriemuir Thistle with a game in hand after the Shipbuilders beat them 3-1 at Craigie Park.

Rory Faulkner gave the hosts the lead only for Stuart Russell to bring Kirrie level. Second-half goals from Paul Constable and Adam Brown sealed it for Craigie.

Broughty Athletic remain second, four points behind leaders North End, after a 2-0 win over 10-man Arbroath Vics at Ogilvy Park, with Ryan Winter scoring both goals for Darren Scott’s side. Dale Riddell was redcarded for Vics.

Lochee Harp and Dundee St James had to settle for a share of the points from their 1-1 draw at New Beechwood Park.

Cavan Mclaren, who scored a hat-trick on his debut for St James three weeks ago, gave the visitors the lead but two minutes into the second half Harp were level through Kai Flynn.

The remaining league fixtures were all postponed due to the wet weather.

Only three games survived in the North Region Premier League, including Montrose Roselea’s clash with Nairn St Ninian at Links Park. Eric Watson’s Lea side ran out 2-0 winners with goals from Kieran Thomson and an own goal.
