Pars’ win stretches their lead at the top

-

Dunfermline boss James Mcpake reiterated earlier remarks that he is not interested in the League One table at this stage of the season, after watching his side go seven points clear at the top.

After a 2-0 win over managerless Peterhead at Balmoor, the Pars were given a further boost with news that close rivals Falkirk had dropped points in a 3-3 thriller at Clyde.

Mcpake said: “There is Edinburgh out there, Montrose, Alloa. Loads of teams about. I’m not missing anyone out.

“Airdrie will be there or thereabouts come the end of the season and play-offs.

“We will just concentrate on Dunfermline FC. We can’t control anything else other than our own performances, the way we play football and the way we do things.”

Peterhead started with a strong wind at their backs and were first to threaten when a Wilkie header from a corner went close.

Dunfermline took the lead when a Todd drive from 30 yards took a wicked deflection and looped over the unfortunate Ritchie in the Blue Toon goal.

Chris Mochrie then extended Dunfermline’s advantage with a wellstruck shot after good work from Fisher.

Former Par Ryan Dow tried to get Peterhead back in the game with a piledriver from 30 yards, but Mehmet was equal to it.

With the wind at their backs, Dunfermline dominated the second half, with Mochrie and Chalmers forcing Ritchie to produce two excellent saves to keep Peterhead in it.

The Blue Toon kept fighting and had a couple of late chances. First Comrie made a great block when Gillies had a clear sight of goal, then Jason Brown had a header from the resultant corner saved.
