Doig set for pro debut
Former Dundee St Francis amateur boxer Charlie Doig makes his professional debut at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Glasgow on Thursday.
Lightweight Doig, a top Scottish amateur for several years, will box on the St Andrew’s Sporting Club bill against Jaroslav Kocka (Czech Republic). Kocka comes to the ring with a one win one draw record.
The contest will be over six three minute rounds and Doig is now winding down his preparations having trained hard in Glasgow under the watchful eye of his coach, former world champion Ricky Burns.
Doig has been training flat out for the last six weeks, mostly in Glasgow.
