Curlers miss out on treble

-

Perth curlers Robin Brydone and Duncan Mcfadzean missed out on a shot at their third title in three weeks after finally running out of miracles in the Red Deer Classic in Alberta, Canada.

Brydone, Mcfadzean and their team-mates Euan Kyle and skip Ross Whyte won back-toback tournaments in Basel and Calgary but had to survive three sudden-death games to reach the quarter-finals in Red Deer.

Two of those victories were by a single shot, but their remarkable run was ended by Matt Dunstone and his Winnipeg rink.

The Scots conceded an early three, and although they kept battling and cut the deficit with two single stones, they eventually went down 5-4.

Kinross player Beth Farmer and her rink are also in the last chance saloon after losing 4-2 to Kerry Galusha.

They must now beat another Canadian, Chelsea Carey, to avoid being eliminated.
