Muirhead takes up role helping youngsters to live active lives
Olympian Eve Muirhead has taken up a new role helping shape sport in Perth and Kinross.
The curler has been appointed to the board of Live Active Leisure, which runs sports and leisure facilities in the area.
Included in the trust’s portfolio is the Dewars Centre, where Muirhead first took the ice at the start of an illustrious career that has seen her become one of the country’s most successful sportswomen.
Muirhead, who was awarded an OBE in 2020, hopes the voluntary role will help her inspire the next generation of athletes.
She says she has “long been a believer” in ensuring communities and young people can have affordable access to sport.
The Olympic gold medal-winner and Courier columnist said: “After the support I have received from Dewars Centre and Live Active Leisure in my career, I am delighted to have the opportunity to work with the Live Active board to support their aspirations to help everyone live active lives in Perth and Kinross.
“I look forward to inspiring more young athletes to meet their goals.
