Driver who fled crash hunted by police

The driver of a car involved in a Dundee hit-and-run that left two people in hospital has still not been traced more than a week after the collision.

Police are investigating the twovehicle crash on Arbroath Road, close to the Kemnay Place junction, on Friday November 11.

Emergency services were called to the scene just after 9.30pm and two females – who were passengers in the fleeing driver’s car – were taken to hospital.

A witness who lives near Arbroath Road described seeing a red Corsa and a white vehicle involved in a “head-on crash”.

The witness, who did not wish to be named, said: “I heard a bang and when I went to see what happened, I saw two cars had smashed.

“The driver ran off and left the car. There was a lady about 35 years old and a young girl, who was on the road. The driver had just left them to it.”

The onlooker was full of praise for the work of the emergency services, some of whom were passing the scene shortly after the crash.

They added: “The fire engines and the police took about 10 minutes to get to the scene.

“The paramedics just happened to be passing at that exact time though and they were amazing.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “At around 9.35pm on Friday November 11 we were called to a report of a two-car crash on Arbroath Road, Dundee.

“The driver of one of the vehicles left the scene prior to police arrival. The two female passengers were taken to Ninewells Hospital for treatment.

“The occupants of the other vehicle were not injured.

“Inquiries are ongoing into the crash and to trace the driver.”
