Scotland knows Westminster fails

-

Sir, – Perhaps I’m being a wee bit naive but I’ll try to put this in as simple a way as possible: the purpose of government is to take care of the country and its people.

This Westminster government has done neither.

The country’s economy is not only shaky but visibly trembling and the people are on an ever-increasing downward spiral, one not of their making, to levels of poverty, despair and ruin not seen for decades.

Why have we reached this desperate position?

It comes down to 12 years of mismanagement, self-interest, self-entitlement, lies and a far-right political agenda.

Is it extreme to call the elected government incompetent?

Scotland never voted for this government. It didn’t even vote for the main opposition party, so similar to the government it’s hard to tell the difference.

Now, by denying the Scottish voters’ wishes, they are also denying democracy to a whole nation.

More and more laws are introduced, removing the rights of workers to strike, their right to health and safety, your right to demonstrate.

When will the British voter realise what’s happening?

Scotland already has. William Golden.

Castle Street,

Forfar.
