ARBROATH HIT OUT AT ‘FOUL’ CONDUCT OF FANS

-

Arbroath FC have hit out at “foul” abuse from a minority of fans after the team suffered a 3-0 defeat to Partick Thistle on Saturday.

A club statement said that a number of Arbroath supporters at the game had behaved in an “unacceptable manner” inside and outside the stadium.

It said: “This conduct can be summarised as using foul and abusive language towards players and management of both teams as well as aggressive conduct towards both Arbroath FC and Partick Thistle FC supporters.”

The exact nature of the abuse and the number of fans who were involved has not been confirmed.

The club added: “This behaviour caused concern and anxiety amongst other Arbroath FC supporters who loyally attend all home and away matches and who properly vocally support the players and management team.

“The club will absolutely not tolerate this type of unacceptable and abusive behaviour and should there be a reoccurrence, the club will take positive action against supporters who fail to conduct themselves in an orderly manner.”

Dick Campbell’s side, who currently sit second from bottom in the table, left Glasgow disappointed after Partick Thistle ended their run of five straight defeats.
