Woman taken to hospital after car and campervan crash in rush hour

A woman was taken to hospital after a crash involving a campervan on the A9 near Birnam.

Two people were injured in the collision between a Volkswagen California Ocean campervan and a Volkswagen Polo on Tuesday evening.

Both casualties were treated at the scene and the road was closed for around two hours following the crash which happened at 5.30pm.

The Polo driver was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee for further treatment.

Police Scotland are now appealing for anyone with dashcam footage of the incident to get in touch.

A spokesman said: “At around 5.30pm on Tuesday, officers were called to the crash involving a Volkswagen Polo and a Volkswagen California Ocean campervan.

“Two people were treated at the scene. The female driver of the Volkswagen Polo was taken to Ninewells Hospital for treatment.”

Sergeant Kevin Wilkie said: “Our inquiries are ongoing into the crash and we are appealing for anyone who was on the A9 near Birnam around the time to contact us.

“I would also ask anyone with dashcam footage to get in touch.”

Anyone with informatio­n is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 2487 of November 22.

Motorists reported facing delays of up to an hour in both directions.

Campaigner­s have been calling for safety improvemen­ts on the A9 in the same area after two people died south of Birnam last month.
