Solution to golf duo mystery?

Our thanks go to Bob Thomson for sending us a note after he spotted a cracking vintage picture of golf legend John Panton in The Courier’s Weekend supplement recently.

He says the other chap shown alongside the Pitlochry-raised icon at his home-town course while he was still a teenager could have been English ex-pro Fred Bullock, who would have been aged just 17 at the time of the photo being taken in April 1936.

Does Mr Thomson’s theory tally with the recollections of other long-time golf fans?
