Search is under way for union’s next chief

-

NFU Scotland’s search for a new chief executive has begun.

In a communication to union members, its president Martin Kennedy paid tribute to outgoing chief executive Scott Walker and assured members that it was business as usual.

Mr Kennedy said: “I am writing to you to give you an update on the appointment of a new chief executive.

“It follows the resignation of Scott Walker who had worked for the organisation for 28 years and was our CEO for the past 11 years. His work and dedication to the union is well recognised by us all and we wish him all the very best in the future.

“NFU Scotland’s board of directors has employed the services of the Scottish Agriculture Organisation Society to take a fresh look at how we optimise and modernise the running of the union.

“We see this as an opportunity to look at how best we can serve our members’ interests and continue to grow and maximise not only our lobbying power but also the benefits you receive from your membership.

“In the interim, from a members point of view, it is business as usual.”
