Plastic-free larder praised

- CHLOE BURRELL

Amotion has been lodged to the Scottish Parliament to congratulate a zero-waste Dundee store on winning a sustainability award.

The Little Green Larder, which allows for a plasticfree shopping experience, won the Sustainability Award at The Courier Menu Food and Drink Awards, held at the Old Course Hotel in St Andrews last month.

A representative from the store was not able to attend the glittering ceremony, but sponsor of the Sustainability category, Invest Fife, said: “Well done to The Little Green Larder.

“This award celebrates those businesses who are innovative and have adapted their practices to transition to a sustainable net-zero operation.

“Creating a sustainable food culture across the region is a key priority for the anchor organisations in Fife and Tayside.”

Jillian Elizabeth, who opened the store in July 2019, was presented with her award by Lesley Taylor of DC Thomson and Fife

Council economic adviser Graeme Ferguson.

North East Scotland MSP Maggie Chapman wrote to Jillian to let her know that she has lodged a motion in the Scottish Parliament to congratulate The Little Green Larder on the award.

If granted, The Little Green Larder will be recognised for their dedication to “making zero-waste shopping easy and affordable by supplying high-quality reusable and sustainable products along with refillable products from suppliers who share the same values.”
