Prestigious award for Perth coach Hunter
Perth Strathtay Harriers’ athletics club president and disability coach Jim Hunter has been announced as a recipient of the 2022 Lifetime Achievement award.
The award follows a remarkable 40 years of dedicated volunteering and a coaching career that has seen him work from grass roots to international level.
Jim has been a key figure within Scottish Athletics, Scottish Disability Sport and his club since his coaching career began.
He has been the driving force behind the development and success of Strathtay’s Inclusion group for young people and adults with disabilities and additional support, working alongside Scottish Athletics and Scottish Disability Sport.
The announcement comes ahead of the 25th annual UK Coaching Awards next month, when coaches nationwide are recognised for their incredible contribution in transforming the lives and communities across their sport.
Jim competed for Strathtay before transitioning into coaching and has been club president for 10 years.
Beyond his work with his local club, he has also been a UK Special Olympics Team Coach, a founding trustee of the ‘Physical’ Sports charity and raised money to help youth sport in Perth and Kinross
He also works closely with many local and national organisations to promote and deliver opportunities for all to take part.
