Snow White sprinkles some magic as panto returns to live stage

- NORA MCELHONE

After last year’s Byre Theatre panto was so rudely interrupted by a new Covid strain, the cast are more excited than ever to be back in rehearsals for this year’s production of Snow White.

Better still, writer and director Gordon Barr is particularly delighted this year’s production will feature the young cast who will be on stage for the first time since 2019.

“We want to say thank you to them and their families for supporting their work on the show – they’re brilliant, and it’s great to be sharing a stage with them again,” he said.

“We feel very privileged to have been able to bring magic and sparkle to St Andrews at Christmas over the past decade, and look forward to doing so for many years to come.”

The Byre Theatre have paired up with Bard in the Botanics to bring the land of Fantasia to St Andrews.

Billed as a “pantosphere like no other”, Snow White promises to bring a contemporary twist to the traditional tale with some festive sparkle.

Stephanie Mcgregor takes to the stage as Snow White, with Stephen Arden as wicked Queen Lucretia Visage, and Caitlin Anderson as Hoddit.
