Warning of more rain over weekend

-

Parts of Dundee, Angus and Perthshire are braced for more heavy rain after the Met Office issued a warning for the weekend.

Wet weather is set to hit large parts of the region today.

The yellow warning comes into force at noon today, lasting until midnight tomorrow.

It comes just a week after heavy rain caused flooding across the area.

The Met Office warning says that flooding of “a few homes and businesses” is likely and spray and flooding on roads may make journey times longer.

There is also a warning that public transport could be affected.

The warning comes as several major outdoor events are being held in Tayside on Saturday, including:

● Dundee Winterfest at Slessor Gardens;

● The inaugural Dundee Hooley, celebrating St Andrew’s Day in Dundee;

● The first day of Perth’s St Andrew’s Day Weekend featuring music and a market;

● Christmas lights switch-ons in Forfar, Kirriemuir, Alyth and Blairgowrie.
