Gunman kills three in attacks at two schools
A gunman armed with a semi-automatic pistol and wearing a bulletproof vest fatally shot two teachers and a student, and wounded 11 other people yesterday, after barging into two schools in south-eastern Brazil, authorities said.
The shootings took place at a public school with elementary and middle school students and a private school, both located on the same street in the small town of Aracruz in Espirito Santo state, the state’s public security secretariat said in a statement.
The gunman is still at large, the secretariat said.
Security camera footage showed the gunman wearing a bulletproof vest and using a semi-automatic pistol for the attacks, Espirito Santo public security secretary Marcio Celante said in a video provided by the secretariat’s press office.
The gunman had covered his face, making it difficult to identify him, Celante said.
