Goodwin keen to lure more targets
The success of Bojan Miovski and Ylber Ramadani can help Aberdeen lure future signing targets, insists boss Jim Goodwin.
Striker Miovski and midfielder Ramadani were both signed from Hungarian club MTK Budapest in the summer.
MTK were forced into a fire sale of their overseas talent after being relegated and the Dons were able to capitalise.
Miovski was secured for £535,000 until summer 2026 with Ramadani signed for £100,000 until 2025.
North Macedonian international Miovski has netted 12 goals and is the joint top scorer in the Premiership.
Albanian cap Ramadani has also been a major hit with the Dons.
Goodwin reckons their success story at Pittodrie, after signing from a struggling club, will help sell the Dons to transfer targets.
He said: “It’s great for us as a club to be able to highlight in future recruitment how well the likes of Miovski and Ramadani have done.
“How they came from a team which struggled in the Hungarian league and have done so well.
“We can show how our recruitment team identified them after analysing their game to decide they suited the Scottish Premiership.
“They have been excellent, as have a number of the other new signings.”
Aberdeen beat off competition from clubs in Germany, Belgium, Russia, Hungary, Switzerland and Poland to sign Miovski.
MTK Budapest rejected an offer of €1.2 million (£1.03m) from Rapid Vienna for the striker last summer.
It is understood Czech Republic club Slavia Prague were keen on signing Miovski in January.
However, they were quoted a price of between €1.5m to €2m (£1.28m to £1.71m). MTK were forced into selling Miovski this summer following relegation due to a clause where lower league clubs in Hungary cannot have overseas players.
Miovski’s goalscoring form for Aberdeen has already alerted other clubs.
French top flight club Stade de Reims are reportedly set to be considering a £4m bid to land Miovski in the January transfer window.
Goodwin is determined to retain star striker Miovski to spearhead a bid to finish third and deliver cup glory this season.
Aberdeen sit third in the table and face Rangers in the League Cup semi-final at Hampden on Sunday, January 15.
Miovski has indicated he is going nowhere and will still be at Pittodrie when the winter window closes.
Leading scorer Miovski and Ramadani were left out of the recent training camp in the United States due to international duty.
Miovski featured in a 1-1 friendly draw with Finland to earn a 13th international cap. Ramadani, 26, played in a 3-1 friendly loss to Euro 2020 winners Italy and in a 2-0 defeat of Armenia, both at home.
Goodwin said: “When the likes of Miovski and Ramadani are playing at senior international level, of course they’re going to attract some admirers.
“At Aberdeen there are opportunities for them to raise their profile against some really good quality opposition.
“They were well aware what they were coming into. Some of our players are getting a lot of plaudits in Scotland and also outwith Scotland.
“They are grabbing the attention of other clubs as well. We want to get the best out of the boys we have right now. We want them to be at Aberdeen for a long time.”
