Campbell optimistic ahead of Broch clash

-

Dick Campbell will be hoping his Arbroath side can give him a belated birthday present by booking their place in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup by winning away to Fraserburgh this afternoon.

It’s just the second time the sides have met in the competition and boss Campbell – who turned 69 this week – hopes his side can progress.

It will be a welcome break from league business, where Campbell’s men sit second bottom after their 3-0 defeat away to his former side Partick Thistle last weekend.

Campbell explained: “There is always a love affair with the Scottish Cup, and you have got to go there and play and hope you are in the draw come quarter to five on Saturday.

“We know Kilmarnock went up there early on in the League Cup and found it tough, so we know we’re going to be in a game.

“They’ve only lost two games all season and haven’t lost in their last 10, but we have got to be optimistic. We will be along the same lines, with Scott Bitsindou about ready to come in but I think Dale Hilson and Scott Stewart will miss out on this one.”
