Painter pours love of sea and land into artwork for new single malt

-

A Fife-based artist has been commissioned to produce a piece of artwork for the award-winning St Andrews distillery Eden Mill.

The painting by Mairi Clark, whose oil paintings of the Scottish coastline are displayed in galleries across the country, celebrates the landscape and flavours of Eden Mill’s hometown and will feature on the case of the 2022 release of The Art of St Andrews Collection single malt.

Eden Mill was established in 2012 and has a selection of single malts and gins.

Matthew Turner, marketing director at Eden Mill Distillery, said: “Mairi’s richly textured and vivid painting of the dramatic St Andrews coastline echoes the deep and characterful flavours in this year’s release.”

The artist has also included a bright point on the horizon which depicts

the new Eden Mill Distillery, which is under construction on the banks of the Eden Estuary.

Mairi Clark began her career painting the Scottish coastline, following the completion of a fine art degree at Central St Martins School of Art in London.

She returned to Scotland and is renowned for her paintings of the

sea and sky. She said: “It has been a pleasure to work with people who have an overwhelming passion for their home and its landscape.”

The Art of St Andrews Collection will be launched at a tasting event at the Fairmont Hotel in St Andrews today.

It will be available from the Eden Mill website at £150.
