Difference of opinion is a matter of respect
Sir, – I was heartened by Mike Glancy’s letter (November 25) in defence of temperate language.
In my view, the best correspondence columns, although addressed to the editor, are also a platform for dialogue and discussion between correspondents.
For too long now, your columns have been dominated by those who seem to derive satisfaction from lobbing verbal, often abusive, missiles at those who do not share their point of view.
Let’s all try to show a bit more respect and acknowledge that whoever the “other side” is, they are unlikely to be completely in the wrong.
Disagreement is fine – denigration is not.
John Wilson.
