INVERKEILO­R. President Mary Ogilvie introduced Ken Linton from Dundee and Angus Foodbank, part of the Trussell Trust, who gave an insight into the organisati­on. LUNANHEAD. President Alison Beattie introduced Derek Potter who gave a talk about his life from joining the Army to being picked to be the Queen’s piper. Susan Wilson proposed thanks. Next meeting is the AGM on May 20 and is a talk by Ewan Campbell from Utopia Theatrical Costumes. New members welcome.

MEMUS AND FERN. Mairi Alexander presided. Members were told of new facilities for the organisati­on’s HQ and museum. Gloria Mitchell gave a flower arranging demonstrat­ion. Mary Donnelly proposed thanks. Competitio­ns: flower of the month – 1 Jane Butterwort­h, 2 Ella Grant, 3 Kathleen Melville; floral arrangemen­ts – 1 Lavina Harvey, 2 Davina Farquharso­n, 3 Kathleen Melville. Decisions were made on the supply of food for the spring rainbow whist on May 3 at 7.30pm. Entry is £6. The next meeting is the AGM and trophies presentati­on on May 14 at 2pm. Eric Summers will give a talk on education. NORTHMUIR. President Elma Dickens welcomed visitors for the 77th birthday. Joan Brown and Elma cut the cake which had been made by Elma. Both Sides of the Tweed, a group of nine ladies, sang, recited poems and gave readings. GLENISLA. Elizabeth Guthrie stood in for the April meeting. In the Angus Federation the group came first in cooperativ­e, displaying A night in Paris; one member won joint best show and Glenisla were runners-up in the individual group. Competitio­ns: tablet – Kathleen Milne; bowl of spring flowers – Jenny Ralston; flower of the month – Linda Cameron.

STRACATHRO. Fiona Watson presided and members enjoyed ceramic painting, guided by The Funky Wee Teapot from Montrose. Winners at the Federation Show were congratula­ted and a selection of entries displayed.
