Stars will twinkle in eyes of Moore

Fans’ favourite Craig Moore is quietly confident Dundee Stars can build on the success of last season.

The Kirkcaldy-born defender has just penned a new deal with Stars that will see him spend a fifth season with the Dundee ice hockey club.

Stars reached the play-off finals weekend last season but lost out on aggregate to Cardiff Devils.

Moore believes head coach Marc Lefebvre is the man to guide Stars to national success.

Moore said: “I am really excited to be back for another year.

“Dundee has always been kind to me, and last season there was a real sense of excitement and a buzz around the rink on game nights – something I cannot wait to be a part of again.

“From speaking with Marc in our exit meeting, I got an understanding of his plans and vision with the idea of bringing in a good core of returning players, which is something I believe plays a key role in having early success.

“Hopefully that can lead us to replicating the success in making the play-off final weekend but this time around ending with us winning a championship.”

He continued: “I think last season showed just how important every game is, whether it be the first or last game of the year, every point matters and having a good start can ultimately make or break our season.”

The defender, who has also iced for Cardiff Devils, Fife Flyers and Glasgow Clan, has now racked up 261 Elite League appearances for Stars.

Lefebvre was delighted to see Moore remain at Dundee.

He said: “Craig is a good option in both offensive and defensive aspects. He is a guy who has accepted his role as he gets older and is going to play a key role in the club’s future.”
